Be Yourself
Today's inspirational thought, is about: Being Myself.
Profound? Extremely!
The pressure to be like everyone else, is tremendous. To adhere to a 'norm', to go with the flow, to keep up with the neighbours, peer pressure.
My current issue, is this recent teaching about the Law Of Attraction, telling us that what we SEE in our minds eye, we can achieve or have, or draw into our lives.
So, the pressure is on to be Visual, to See, to close our eyes and Imagine. Yes, it's true, advertisers know to flash images at us, appealing to our sense of sight, and YouTube has certainly exploded in popularity.
Yet, there are many more Senses: Hear, Touch, Balance, Taste, Smell, a sense of forbearing, a 6th sense, the ability to detect a bad vibe or aura around someone, warning you not to trust them. How about a sense of space, or peace, or freedom? Better still, a Hunch, or a feeling that this is the right decision. How many people don't have a Sense of Fun!
Some of us say: "Oh I see", while others might say "Yes, I hear you", and I notice people saying: "I understand what you are saying". A good one to observe is when someone says: "I can't quite grasp that".
So, though Seeing things in our minds eye is very important, not all of us are predominantly Visual.
I personally, cannot squeeze my eyes shut and imagine my future.
I am a Taste person. How unusual. But I accept myself.
When I compose music, I can taste the notes, I can taste when a musical phrase is in the right place. When I listen to a speaker or hear a new idea, I smack my lips and think: "How does this taste to me"?
Finally, I can Taste Success. Where do you SEE yourself in 5 years time? NO, not for me.
Success to me tastes of steak! I can taste it, it is tender, it oozes juice, covered in mushrooms, and other healthy vegetables like tomato, I can taste the glass of red wine that goes with it, complementing the red meat perfectly. Tasting it in my mind helps me SEE it, so I can dwell in this image.
So, until tomorrow's post, let's all accept and celebrate our own idiosyncrasies, and not try and be like everyone else.
