Spend Today, Pay Tomorrow
There is a pattern
emerging here, a natural order it seems.
If I eat right today, I
will benefit from it tomorrow.
·
If I resist the beer,
pie, chips and pudding tonight, I will have a flatter tummy tomorrow morning.
·
If I habitually
eat fast foods, processed foods, micro waved meals, junk foods, my health will
suffer in the next few months.
·
If I develop a
habit of eating fruit, veg, salads, pulses, drinking lots of water, in my
youth, my body will benefit from this in later life.
Same with money: If I buy
something today, I will pay the price next month.
So I have extra cash in
the bank, yippee, let's go out and spend it. I can afford to this month.
Purchase that luxury item,
go for that holiday, the money is there today.
But come next month, not
only is that float not there , now I find I somehow have double the cost to pay,
and I am in double the debt.
There is a more pleasant
variation of this principle, where if I work hard today, I will reap the
benefits tomorrow.
Had I studied hard in my
teens, it would have benefited me for the rest of my life.
Last example, this applies
with exercise.
I may not feel the benefit
of 5 pull-ups today, and will struggle, but tomorrow, I will be stronger, and
be able to do 10.
They say the Ant works
furiously during the Period of Plenty, when it doesn't have to.
It's reward is more than
just barely surviving during the sparse winter months, it thrives and builds and
multiplies, and emerges in the spring stronger than before.
And that's our aim, isn't
it?
To not just survive, but
to Win.
To be more than just
fighters, but to be victorious.
To not just scrape
through, but to sail through singing and laughing.
